Cereal Variety Notes
Coming off of two consecutive years of drought this spring, we seeded into cool, dry conditions. The challenge was setting the seeding depth to ensure seed was well into moisture without being too deep. Frequent adjustments to the drill and air cart fan speed were necessary to accomplish our target depth. When we sprayed the in-crop herbicide yield potential was looking to be severely reduced. The severe stress was represented by premature node and head extension at the 3-leaf stage. We did not receive moisture until June 18th at which point we received a 2″ rain. There was a lot of residual N left in the soil from previous years yield targets not being achieved. As you can see, the moisture we received throughout the season drastically changed the yield potential even though it came at a time when we would have assumed our yield to already have been significantly reduced.

Plant Growth Regulator Notes
At time of application the wheat looked very brown and we almost missed the staging as head extension was beginning to occur prematurely. We did see some difference in height measurements. The day after we applied the PGR we received 2″ of rain and it is clear from the yield results that the crop this moisture. After heading plant height ranged from 54 cm to 51 cm of Manipulator.

Fusarium Head Blight Notes
This trial was similar to the rest of the fungicide spraying it was showing no signs of disease. As you can see there was a bit of a slight grading factor across the treatments. The yield was a 4.5 bu difference from the untreated check to the new product Miravis Ace from Syngenta
